Meeting Schedule
The Songwriters of Highlands Appalachia (SOHA) now meet at TWO locations! Bring your acoustic instrument of choice or just a notebook and come join us!
On the 1st Thursday of each month, we gather at the Southwest Cultural Center and Marketplac (SVCC&M) at Exit 14 in Abingdon.
On the 2nd Saturday of each month, we are at the Birthplace of Country Music (BCM) museum. The address is: 101 Country Music Way, Bristol, VA 24201.
SVCC&M: We generally meet on the first Thursday of each month downstairs in the boardroom. Come any time between 6:00 and 8:30 PM (a hard stop, as they close the building then). When you enter the building, there is normally be a jam session on-stage. Please walk to the back of the audience and take the elevator on the right downstairs. An electric keyboard will be available if you need one. Bring a bottle of water.
If you bring guests, they are welcome to stay upstairs and hear the 4-5 different bands that take 30-minute turns playing on stage. There will also be supper available for sale upstairs. Your guests are also welcome to observe our sessions.
The Crooked Road and The SWCC and Marketplace will graciously list our group in their advertisements and online sites.
BCM: As you enter, inform them that you are with the Songwriters group from Abingdon, as there is normally a fee for entry. We meet in their Activities Room from 2:00-4:30 PM and we’ll have 2 free SONGWRITER presentation Showcases in 2026.
We certainly would like to thank the staff (esp. Erika Barker, Leah Prater, Ella Patrick, and Rene Rodgers) and all of the very friendly and helpful volunteers!
